Insurance

Fire insurance is covered at Baloise by Michiel (as he is both owner and tenant), as well as insurance for household effects at a value of just over EUR 100k. For the tenants, this covers:

• Theft

• Loss of property in case of fire or water damage

• Involuntary damage to the house caused by tenants ("afstand van verhaal", 15% of premium)

The total cost (2026: EUR 1845) is partially paid by the tenants, as they also benefit from this insurance. For 2026, this amounts to roughly EUR 700, i.e. 7.30 euros per person per month. This amount is updated yearly according to the health index. This amount should be paid before May 1st of each year, and covers the period from June 18 year X to June 18 year X+1.
